Admission Process
- Completed Application Form with appropriate application fee.

Acupuncture $100
Chinese Massage $90
Western Massage Therapy $75

Late registration fee of an additional $25 due with applications received 3 weeks prior to class start date.

Western and Chinese Massage Therapy Students ONLY

-Preliminary Education Number (PEN) from the State Medical Board of Ohio. This process takes about 30 days.

- Mail immediately the Preliminary Education Number form in your application package along with the notarized documentation of all legal name changes (marriage, divorce, adoption, etc.) to the American Institute of Alternative Medicine with a $35 check or money order payable to the Ohio State Medical Board.

- This will result in your being assigned a Preliminary Education Number from the Ohio State Medical Board, which is required for beginning classes.


 Western Massage Therapy Students ONLY

1. Official High School Transcript, GED or High School Equivalent (with raised school seal).

2. GPA of 2.5 is recommended for admission to the 9 month Western Massage Therapy Program.

3. A GPA of 2.0 is recommended for admission to the 12 month Western Massage Therapy Program.

A GED average score above 50 is needed for 12 month program.

- Complete and mail the Request for High School Transcript form to your high school immediately. Your high school transcript must be sent directly to:

 Acupuncture Students ONLY

- Official College Transcripts if you attended any post secondary schools.

- Mail your Request for College Transcripts form immediately.
- These must come directly from your college to American Institute of Alternative Medicine.
- The forms are in your application packet.

 ALL Students

- Completed Physical Health Examination Form

- Prior to enrollment, students must submit a Physical Health Examination Form from their physician (MD or DO). Send the completed form to American Institute of Alternative Medicine. Health forms are good for one year from the date of examination. Acupuncture students will need the Hepatitis B Vaccine, series of 3, or complete the appropriate waiver.

Two personal recommendations - Fill out the Reference Contact Information Form with contact information of two people AIAM Admissions can contact for references. These contacts should be professional people who have known your academic abilities and character. References from family members are not acceptable.

- Personal Interview and tour
A prospective student must tour the facility and look at equipment prior to or at the time of the personal interview.
- Upon receipt of everything listed above (admission application and fee, high school transcript, college transcript(s), biographical essay, two professional references and Physical Health Examination Form), Acupuncture and Chinese Massage students will be contacted to schedule a personal interview with an admission's coordinator. The personal interview is for the student applicant and school to get to know each other better. All applicants are screened and interviewed individually to determine personal motivations and goals, potential to benefit from the program, psychological and emotional maturity, physical abilities and financial readiness. If you have not seen the facility, a school tour will be conducted at this time.

- Notification of Acceptance - Once the admission process is completed, you will be notified by mail of the decision.

- Class Seat Reservation - Upon admission, students are responsible for a deposit of 10% of the quarter's tuition.

- Student Orientation - Student Orientation is held prior to your first class. Attendance is mandatory.

- Transfer Credits -The Institute accepts students in good standing who wish to transfer from another acupuncture/oriental medicine college or massage therapy program.

- Transfer students must first meet the admission requirements of the Institute. Prior to enrollment, transfer credit procedures must be completed. Prevailing transfer policies will apply.

- Set up an appointment with the Dean of Faculty to determine which credits can be accepted.
 
- English Language Competency If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate English competency with a TOEFL Score of at least 157 on the computer based test or at least 480 on the paper test.
